Pursue your passion and make a difference

The School of Science, Technology and Health is home to Tiffin University’s leading-edge STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Applied arts and Mathematics) programs. Tiffin University is leading the way in developing academic programs and career opportunities in today’s STEAM-related fields. Our cutting-edge STEAM majors, taught in our state-of-the-art Center for Science and Technology, will equip you with the most current, career-ready knowledge and skills, enabling you to thrive in your STEAM-related career.

Whatever your passion – from forensic science, chemistry or biology to neuroscience, healthcare, computer science and cybersecurity – in the School of Science, Technology and Health, you’ll immerse in it, as you put knowledge to practice.

Other institutions talk about experiential learning; we live it. Our students apply theory learned in the classroom to group projects, labs, fieldwork, internships, research, clinicals, practicums and more. You will also be able to earn industry level certifications in the fields of exercise science, computer science and cybersecurity.

The School of Science, Technology and Health is located in Tiffin University’s newest building on campus is our Center for Science and Technology – also referred to as the STEAM building. Here, you’ll engage in experiential laboratory exercises, using high-level instrumentation that is not used at other universities until graduate level coursework. Instrumentation includes GC-MS (Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry), HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography) and FTIR (Fourier Transform Infared Spectroscopy), Bod Pod (to analyze the impact of physical activity on the human body) and the DNA sequential analyzer. You’ll also learn anatomy and physiology to the molecular and cellular level using the Anatomage Table, a six-foot horizontal computer and virtual autopsy machine using digitized human bodies dedicated to science. TU is one of the few schools in the nation to have access to such a machine. Students also have access to advanced computer science and cybersecurity labs with the most up-to-date software environments and equipment specific for Cisco networking course work and cyber range equipment for vulnerability in systems and networks.

The School of Science, Technology and Health features TU’s Center for Cyber Defense and Forensics, the Certified Cisco Academy and the Drone Academy.

The Center for Cyber Defense and Forensics, designated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as a National Center of Academic Excellence, provides you a hands-on cybersecurity training environment. Through collaborative projects inside the Center, you’ll learn firsthand how to find vulnerabilities in systems, how to exploit them like an attacker and how to fix them so that they are no longer prone to attacks.

Widely recognized in the field, TU’s Drone Academy has become a place of learning, research and achievement for the advancement of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), or drones, – and an invaluable resource for our UAS program and students. The Drone Academy has been designated to participate in the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Collegiate Training Initiative by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This initiative allows the Academy and University to collaborate with the FAA to provide aid to students pursuing a career in aviation. Through the designation, students will also have the opportunity to partner with industry professionals, local government officials, members of law enforcement and other organizations.

Tiffin University is a Certified Cisco Academy, so that students have real-world hands-on experience with equipment and hardware that is utilized in the industry. Networking classes utilize the Cisco curriculum, which enables students to take industry certifications such as the Cisco Certified Technician (CCT), Cisco Certified Networking Associate (CCNA) and Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) after completing the courses.

Relevant and current, active and engaging, the School of Science, Technology and Health is an education that will prepare you in every way, as a confident professional, a lifelong learner and a difference-maker in your field and community.
